[The Full Duel Script]

The crowd cheered-- Riding Duels were a bit more of a niche these days, but they still had their die-hard fans. Yugo had traveled a little bit out of the Greater Domino Area that made up the cities of Domino, Heartland, Maiami, Den, in order to join in on one of the few major Riding Duel tournaments that happen each year, and he had made a great showing, getting into the finals bracket!

Thing is, he had noticed another familiar name on the rankings as the tournament progressed-- "Kamishiro, Ryoga". Well, it was familiar in the sense that it scratched at the back of his head, but it wasn't until he ended up paired up against him and was facing him before the duel actually started, that it finally clicked.

"Wait, aren't you-- Shark? The guy who had been one of the big contenders at the Super Junior League?!"

Yugo was a bit surprised to see Shark in a Riding Duel tournament, not really realizing that he had been a Riding Duelist at all, but Shark seemed uninterested in humoring his questions, putting his helmet on without a word.

"H-hey, come on, least you can pretend to be friendly to someone who recognizes you!"

Yugo got on his own helmet, and when they were prompted to shake hands before the start of the duel, Shark proceeded to ignore that, as well, irritating Yugo just a bit more.

Well, whatever, I just gotta win this, and I'll have won the whole tournament. This guy acting stuck up isn't going to ruin that for me. Yugo assured himself as he did the pre-check on his D-Wheel, getting ready.

Shark, however, was fuming. Not because of Yugo, but because his mind kept going over the situation, over and over and over. He at least knew that whoever from the school was trying to stop him from doing tournaments hadn't gotten into the Riding Duel circuit yet, given his ease of entering this tournament, but he tried to pinpoint just who it'd have been. There were so many fellow students at that school that all considered him to be the worst of the worst that they had started to blur in his mind-- it was only because the school was so isolated that he had even kept attending it to graduate, in spite of their jeers.

No, he had to go down the list, he had to do this, he had to make sure they paid for this, but right now, his thoughts felt like a typhoon, fueled by the anger that someone would have the gall to actively stop him from being a duelist.

And distressingly, Yugo was a very appealing target, with his boisterous attitude. Shark didn't even really know Yugo that well-- he was Sakaki Yuya's brother, he knew that much. But he wasn't sure exactly when he had ever seen him in the first place or learned about that fact, if at all...

Well, whatever. They all bounced on the pavement all the same.

--

The duel went on quickly-- with Shark opening up with three Xyz monsters, and Yugo responding in turn with two of his own, managing well to even out the field. Shark had returned the "favor" with Shark Drake, allowing the monster to rip and tear into Clear Wing Synchro Dragon twice, each attack having more force behind it than usual.

It wasn't until Yugo kept managing to stop Shark's attacks, despite clearly beginning to struggle, that Shark started to get annoyed. Even as Yugo went ahead and summoned Chanbara on his very last move to try to buffer against Full Armored Black Ray Lancer and Bahamut Shark-- to no avail, but he would rather take a stand and make a show than allow Shark to attack him head-on like that-- Shark wanted nothing more than to knock him off of his bike.

Which he did, as Bahamut Shark's last direct attack smashed into Yugo's bike, as a distinct crunch was heard from the side of the vehicle. Yugo held on tightly as the bike swerved off to the side, falling over and causing him to skid across the ground, hissing, and making him extremely thankful for helmets in that moment.

The thankfulness disappated quickly though as he saw the damage to his bike: a clear mark in the side from Bahamut Shark's claws having ripped into the the chasis. He cursed to himself as he scrambled to the bike's side, checking it carefully even as it released steam from overheating. He was so concerned with it that he didn't even hear the announcer declaring Shark to be the winner, but the sudden cheers from the crowd snapped him out of it as he looked up around him, Shark himself having pulled over to the side as the announcer went onto his congratulations tirade.

Of course, Yugo felt sore from losing, but the biggest concern was making sure his bike still functioned. He could deck Shark later for that-- for, for whatever that was.

Shark kept his helmet on even as he was given the trophy, mostly to keep his expression hidden.

He still felt angry. He didn't do enough. He should've completely overwhelmed Yugo. He should've just destroyed him.

But not even those thoughts could get past the fact that even winning like that, letting himself run loose with his psychic abilities for even a moment, was extremely unsatisfying. He had sorta hoped taking his anger out on him in this tournament, where the action was too fast for anyone to catch onto what he could do, would at least clear his head a bit, but instead he was just left with this... emptiness.

Ugh, Tsukumo's probably right.

He hated that thought.

He hated allowing anyone but Rio or his parents have an opinion about him and what he does-- and even then, they could be a stretch.

When he was asked to give any closing comments, he snapped back to the reality of the situation.

Well, there was one thing he wanted to say at least, as he lifted up his helmet's visor, and took the microphone.

"This is a message to anyone who's choosing to stand in my way, to anyone who's decided to make it their life's mission to drag me down, to humiliate me, to insult me by not showing their face to me instead:

I'm coming for you. So you better watch your back."

The weight to his words seemed to go unnoticed by the announcer, who instead took back the microphone to hype it up. "You heard it here, folks! Our very own Kamishiro Ryoga--"

"It's Shark." Shark managed to mutter, before putting back down his visor.

"-- has issued a challenge to anyone who'll take it! As our circuit's champion, I'm sure he'll answer anyone's call! Let's give him another round of applause!"

As the people cheered, Shark started to wheel out his bike, grumbling.

Well, at the least, Shark thought to himself. Maybe someone will finally show their face.

Well. My back sure feels sore.

But I think the bike'll survive whatever that was.

Ugh, I was really hoping to win that, but at least the runner-up prize is enough to help fix the damage...

Thank you at least for taking my brother up for the match and not refusing at the last minute like some of his recent opponents.

Dunno.

A lot of my brother's opponents or tournament sponsors, recently, pull out at the last minute due to claims of cheating, fraud, improperly handled paperwork, or the like.

I'm glad you're better than them.

Sorry he might of taken it out on your bike, though...

Yes, but I dunno if I should say without his permission...

Psychic Duelist related abilities.

I'll send you my brother and I's insurance information so both firms can get in touch since I think this kind of thing falls under vehicular accidents.
icequeen_rio: (Seriously...?)

[personal profile] icequeen_rio 2022-01-28 08:51 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah. No excuse but, it's just been nonstop BS for like a year or two here.

No problem.

I wonder if Psychic Guards exist...

We're both really strong Psychics, is the thing.

Oh geez, I saw the whole thing. What was even WITH that last attack that guy did? It was so brutal.

We can fix up the damage to the bike. I'm just glad you're okay.

[personal profile] with_the_wind 2022-01-28 08:28 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm amazed he did that much damage just with the solid vision alone... it's like he was aiming to knock you off it and do as much damage as possible.
with_the_wind: (☆ Annoyed)

[personal profile] with_the_wind 2022-01-28 08:42 pm (UTC)(link)
Well whatever he did, it was dangerous and he best hope he doesn't find himself around me anytime soon.

Oh, I've heard of Psychic Duelists. They can make the monsters and damage real if I remember right.

Still, I'm sure there are ways to control such an ability. He shouldn't have used it on you like that!

[personal profile] with_the_wind 2022-01-28 08:58 pm (UTC)(link)
Haah... I guess for now we should just be grateful they're being cooperative with the insurance details and that the damage to you and the bike wasn't worse than it was.

[personal profile] pendulum_soul 2022-01-28 08:30 pm (UTC)(link)

Yuzu and I watched the duel together and just...

... I know Shark is usually quite brutal with his duels, but that seemed really brutal, even for him, the way he tore into your D-Wheel like that.

[personal profile] pendulum_soul 2022-01-28 08:39 pm (UTC)(link)

Yeah, it just seemed so excessive the way he went after you. He could've really hurt you doing that!!

I don't even know how he even managed to do so much damage when it was just regular solid vision, not Real Solid Vision that Action Duels use.

[personal profile] pendulum_soul 2022-01-28 08:54 pm (UTC)(link)

Of course! That would make sense why he could cause so much damage without Real Solid Vision.

It doesn't excuse him using the ability on you, though.

[personal profile] pendulum_soul 2022-01-28 10:09 pm (UTC)(link)

Yeah. I guess that's true... I doubt he was aiming to seriously harm you or anything, and the fact you got out of it with just scrapes and some damage to the D-Wheel shows that.

I just think he really needs to be careful with his ability and how he uses it. You got off okay, but who's to say someone else won't if he goes after them with the same ferocity?

[personal profile] pendulum_soul 2022-01-29 03:08 pm (UTC)(link)

I guess that's true.

He shouldn't really be taking it out on people who aren't involved with whatever is going on with him, but if he's going through some stuff right now, I understand he probably feels really frustrated with it.

[personal profile] pendulum_soul 2022-01-29 06:07 pm (UTC)(link)

Yeah, that does sound really sketchy. What he did isn't worth kicking him out of the circuit for. Nobody deserves that unless they were being really intentionally dangerous and harmful.

And if he's had trouble with duels dropping him... I dunno, sounds like someone might have it out for him or something.

Heyyyyy, Yugo?

You got a weird e-mail last night, right? Can you send me the address? I wanna look something up.

[personal profile] melodiousmaestra 2022-01-29 06:29 pm (UTC)(link)

Well that just makes me imagine Shark dressed up as a snooty prince and.

Huh.

Honestly I could see it. Thanks for the address, Yugo!
